This experiment lets you take a picture of something to hear how to say it in a different language. It’s just one example of what you can make using Google’s machine learning API’s, without needing to dive into the details of machine learning. g.co/aiexperiments

Built by Dan Motzenbecker with friends at Google Creative Lab, using Google’s Cloud Vision API and Translate API.

this is cool – but how exactly is this related to A.I.? I understand machine learning, but there is really no "I" to this or am I missing something?

The common misconception of AI is that it relates to sentience and such. In reality Intelligence is not a binary thing. Things like a basic google search (which in reality is quite complicated) uses AI to look for related websites using algorithms. The fact that the search bar recognizes what you are asking for, translates it into computer code and returns something that can be seen as intelligent is fundamentally AI; it's responding like a human would.

It uses AI to work out what it's looking at. That's pretty solidly AI if you ask me.
