Make sure that the main class is under the same package as mentioned in the pom's groupid

you don't need to mention spring-core dependency, if you use 1.5.7.RELEASE for spring-boot-starter-parent

got an error:SLF4J: Failed to load class "org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder".SLF4J: Defaulting to no-operation (NOP) logger implementationif i try manually adding slf4j, it complains that log4j-over-slf4j is already installed…any idea on how to fix this? thanks

Yo mate, you probably tried to put the class into (default) package… Try to put it into any package and it should works 🙂
