Seventh grade teacher Pernille Ripp nearly quit teaching six years ago, until she realized she could change the way she reached students by understanding their never-ending fascination with technology. By incorporating new communication tools and the cloud into her curriculum, Ripp teaches her students invaluable lessons about the importance of reading, writing – and showing kindness toward others. To learn more about Ripp, visit her blog pernillesripp.com. To learn more about Toronto-based writer Rusul Alrubail, also featured in the video, go to rusulalrubail.com.

A wonderful teacher and some very lucky students! We need forward thinking teachers like this and we need those young students to grow up thinking globally. The world is changing and we need to change with it. Thank you so much for sharing this!

How wonderful to bring the world to the classroom. The more we know about other people's experiences, the more we can understand others – and how they're not so very different from us. Well done!

What an awesome video! Way to go Pernille and High 5 to your class for looking beyond themselves and into the world.

Thanks, Pernille. This is what teaching should be like. Your students are really lucky: please tell them we're watching them in my Italian 6th grade as well and we find them great! I'm really upset about the negative comments: please know educators all around the world support you and your students. Huge hugs
