Merry Fragmas everyone! Mike Geig is back and bringing the holiday fear! In this multi-day session we will be building a Networked Multiplayer First Person Shooter game from the ground up. The content will range from beginner to intermediate as we look at scripting and features specific to multiplayer networking. Even if you’ve watched the previous Merry Fragmas episodes, you’ll want to come back for these as we are revisiting previous topics and looking at new / alternate methods of implementing them. Additionally, we’ll explore more on the concept of a lobby, networked animations, gameplay logic, and UI / polish. Let the slay bells ring!

At first it wasnt working for me either but then i found that i forgot when spawning from a script to put the prefab that is spawned into a folder under assets named "Resources". Everything works now.

The client is connected to the server, but he cannot move and the camera dosent show the local player

I downloaded the stealth pack from unity, and now whenever I launch the build it makes the build name Stealth and not the actual name like it should be. How do I fix this?

Is there a way i can prevent my muzzle flash effect from being deleted from the scene and everything going haywire?

there is a script attached to the effects prefabs that you can disable. when you open the effect from the assets panel scroll all the way down in the inspector. there is a script object hidden down there. it took me a while to find that little bugger

i fixed my own problem. i'm using effects that have auto destruct scripts attached which was causing them to be deleted after 5 seconds causing a null reference exception.i'm using the Unity particles pack for the visual effects.

How do you work around the particle effects for the gun? Are they necessary? If so how do you replicate them?

Made it to the end of part 1 & everything works. I created 2 easy particle & added an audio source so I didn't need to mess in the script & have it ready for 1 day.. for now, they are disabled in the inspector but I did use them to see if the initial shooting worked.

have you guys ever made a series on how to make assets and how to program that asset to interact certain ways? Cause this is nice but I want to make my own stuff not drag and drop. Also keep up with this work its great.

Falkred At this point, no we don't. This is primarily due to the nature of asset creation, which is beyond the scope of learning Unity. I would suggest following tutorials or taking classes in Photoshop, a modelling package like Max, Maya, Modo, Blender etc, rigging and animating, drawing and design. Asset creation is a complementary skill set to game design and construction, but needs to be learned separately.
