Jim Hugunin has spent the last few years building a high-resolution realtime cloth simulation simulator within Unity. In this talk he explains the hard technical challenges in formulating an algorithm that can take maximum advantage of the GPUs capabilities. Then, he shows how Unity can be used effectively to develop this algorithm.

Can anyone tell us if this is being adapted for film/games? Is this just a "hey look what I did!" talk? The wind demo at the end was intriguing and I know that adapting this for gaming would really change a lot.

I remember doing stuff like this in my physics class. All it is is springs connecting verticies. This guy gets it 🙂

Hi All,I am the author behind uFlex. Just to say that uFlex was initially thought as a simple wrapper aimed at experienced developers. As there was a lot of interest from unity community I have added an example of simple integration with Unity. Yet, I don't consider it as a complete physics engine per se. Hence, the low price tag.I admit that the profiling timers were an unfortunate overlook from my side. I wish this was actually available in some form.. like perhaps as an asset on the asset store. I have trouble seeing the point of this talk, since the author doesn't tell us enough to actually implement it and doesn't distribute his code in any form.
